Product Availability Update
Effective July 1, 2026, National Gypsum Company, the exclusive service provider for products manufactured by Gold Bond Building Products, LLC, will discontinue the sale of Gold Bond® Type C gypsum board products.
This change reflects a manufacturing decision by Gold Bond Building Products and does not change National Gypsum’s commitment to providing high-performing, fire-resistant gypsum solutions.
Products Affected
The following Gold Bond® Type C products will be discontinued:
- 3/4" Gold Bond® SoundBreak® XP® Fire‑Shield C™ Gypsum Board
- 1/2" & 5/8" Gold Bond® eXP® Interior Extreme® Fire‑Shield C™ Gypsum Panels
- 1/2" & 5/8" Gold Bond® Fire‑Shield C™ Gypsum Board
- 1/2" & 5/8" Gold Bond® XP® Fire‑Shield C™ Gypsum Board
- 1/2" & 5/8" Gold Bond® Kal‑Kore® Fire‑Shield C™ Plaster Base
What This Means for Your Projects
While Type C gypsum board products are being eliminated, other fire-resistant gypsum board products and design alternatives are available.
Recommended Alternatives
EVOLVE X™ Fire-Shield® Gypsum Board and EVOLVE XP™ Fire‑Shield® Gypsum Board products (UL Type FSLX) can be installed in the most widely specified UL fire rated wall, floor- and roof-ceiling designs as an alternative to Type C gypsum board.
